Consider me your personal “gold digger.” I’m sure you’ve heard the quote: “Everyone can find the dirt. Be the one that finds the gold.”
And I bet as much as you WANT to be the one who sees the gold, you are really good at finding dirt especially when it comes to your own life.
I know I’ve said some pretty hurtful things to myself things I certainly would never say to my best friend, probably not even my worst enemy.
We are are own worst critics, so we all need someone in our lives that will look for and help us see the gold in ourselves. The more we see the good in ourselves, the more we will be able to recognize it in our friends, spouses, children, and our environments.
I’m here to help you find the gold because it’s my specialty. It wasn’t always though.

Yes, I know it sounds great. And it is true and powerful. But can I be super honest with you?
Don’t “like” this unless you are going to LISTEN to it.
It’s great to say that you need to trust God. But to trust Him, you have to know Him. And this is how you do it.
But Aubri, I don't know HOW to trust God. I don't feel close to Him. I don't know how to feel close to Him.
Here's some tried and true tips from my 20+ years in ministry (and 40+ years as a broken and struggling human being just like you).
A verse of the day app is great, but it’s not enough to teach you the character of God. It’s not going to convince you of His faithfulness and show you the magnitude of his love and power.
Go to church. Attend Bible studies. The church is God’s hands and feet on earth and while we are most certainly not perfect, we are trying to be more like Jesus and let others see Him through us.
Pray often and on purpose. Pray when you are grateful and pray when you are distressed. Pray when you are happy and when you are hurting. Not sure what to pray?? That’s ok! Google “prayers of the Bible” and borrow one of the inspired writers' words. Still struggling with what to say? Sit and be silent and ask the Holy Spirit spirit to speak to God on your behalf. The Bible says that’s one of His purposes.
I'm never going to be that person to judge you for what you choose to watch on television or the music you play on your earbuds. BUT, I will tell you that what you focus on expands. If you want your relationship with God to grow and expand, pay attention to the shows and music you are feeding your mind.
Sometimes it's harder to feel close to God in our comfortable, modern homes. If you live close to a park, go for a walk in the park. Find a place to hike. Spend a day at the beach or in the mountains. You may be surprised by how much closer you can feel to God when you get away from the daily hustle and bustle and focus on the natural world around you.
One of the best ways to feel closer to God is to connect with His mission on earth. Find a way to serve those who are not as fortunate as you. Help at a food bank. Visit the elderly. Write letters to someone in prison. Collect items to send to missionaries overseas. Help with an inner city outreach ministry. If you are part of a local church, ask what service opportunities they have available and connect with others who are already serving.
